JBL Tune 770 NC vs Sony WH-CH720N: Sound demo and full comparison

In the realm of budget noise-canceling headphones, the JBL Tune 770 NC and the Sony WH-CH720N are two popular contenders. Both offer impressive features and sound quality at a relatively affordable price. But which one reigns supreme? Let’s delve into a comprehensive comparison, including a sound demo, to help you make an informed decision.

Sound Quality

  • JBL Tune 770 NC: JBL is known for its bass-forward sound signature, and the Tune 770 NC delivers on that promise. The bass is powerful and punchy, adding energy to your music. Also, it has clear mids and highs. The sound overall is clear and punchy, helped by the 40mm drivers
  • Sony WH-CH720N: Sony takes a more balanced approach to sound, emphasizing clarity and detail. Vocals are crisp and clear, and the midrange is well-defined. The bass is present but not overpowering, limited by the 30mm drivers

    Noise Cancellation

    • JBL Tune 770 NC: The Tune 770 NC offers decent noise cancellation, effectively blocking out low-frequency sounds like airplane engines and subway noise. It also does a good job with higher-frequency sounds like conversations and street traffic.

    • Sony WH-CH720N: They also block low and high frequencies but they are not as efficient as the JBL Tune 770NC where they let more noise go in.

    Comfort and Fit

    • JBL Tune 770 NC: These headphones clamp hard and they are mostly comfortable for kids, teens and people with smaller heads. Some users may find them a bit tight around the ears.  You need to test them to see if they are comfortable for you

    • Sony WH-CH720N: The WH-CH720N are extremely comfortable and well-fitting. They have a lighter weight than the Tune 770 NC, which can be a plus for long listening sessions.

    Battery Life

    • JBL Tune 770 NC: The Tune 770 NC offers up to 44 hours of battery life with noise cancellation enabled and up to 70 hours with it turned off.
    • Sony WH-CH720N: The WH-CH720N has a slightly shorter battery life, lasting up to 35 hours with noise cancellation on and up to 50 hours with it turned off.

    Verdict

Both the JBL Tune 770 NC and the Sony WH-CH720N are excellent options for budget-minded listeners seeking decent noise cancellation and sound quality. The Tune 770 NC excels with its excellent sound quality and longer battery life, while the WH-CH720N impresses with its comfort.
